Omega Protein is the largest U.S. producer of protein rich meal and oil derived from marine sources. Omega Protein’s products are produced from menhaden (a herring-like fish) which are caught off the Atlantic and Gulf Coast. Our four operating facilities include Abbeville and Cameron, Louisiana; Moss Point, Mississippi; and Reedville, Virginia.
Omega Protein is the only fully integrated fish oil processing
operation in the United States, from catching fish with the use of spotter planes, nets and boats to processing them at various plants. The company’s products include fish meal, solubles and oil, sold for both human and animal nutrition. These products are distributed domestically and internationally.
Shipyard and Plant Positions:

Marine Operations:
Omega Protein owns 61 fishing vessels and 32 spotter planes for use in its fishing operations. Spotter planes are used in locating schools of fish and then directing the ships for the final catch with a purse seine net. Available jobs include:

Work Schedule
Careers in marine operations are seasonal and depend on the location. The fishing season in the Gulf of Mexico runs from mid-April through October. In the Atlantic it runs from May through December. Normal fishing operations are conducted Monday through Friday but may occasionally vary from time to time.
Both seasonal and full time shipyard and plant positions are available.
