Fish Oil Products
Fish oil is used in a variety of products including; livestock, pet, aquaculture, poultry and equine feed, as well as a supplement in human food. In also has uses in several industrial markets. Omega Protein operates the only marine oil refinery in the USA and produces several grades of refined menhaden oil. This facility has the ability to customize oil products as well as handle specialty additives, natural and chemical antioxidants and various packaging requirements.
Fish Meal Products
The largest market is the animal feed industry, which formulates fish meal as a high-quality protein in virtually all animal feeds. Our specialty meals; Special Select, Natural Nautic and Sea-Lac are processed for specific feeding applications.
Agronomy
Omega Protein is the largest manufacturer of liquid fish protein in the world. During our processing of whole fresh menhaden, all fish are pressed through a screw press in order to separate the liquid (oil and water) from the solid content. The oil is then removed and the water and soluble protein faction is then concentrated to a finished product of a flowable liquid. It is then stored in tanks until time of the shipment when it is prepared for feed or fertilizer use. Liquid fish is available in bulk truckloads, 55-gallon drums, or totes.
